Sandwood Bay
Tucked-away just below Cape Wrath in the North West Highlands of Scotland lies Sandwood Bay. The first time I laid eyes on it, my heart soared with its breathtaking beauty. It truly is one of the most magnificent places I have ever been.
The mighty Atlantic Ocean pounds its vast tract of untouched shoreline. Rolling sand dunes and a glittering loch lie in the spreading cleft between towering cliffs, while remote moorlands and looming mountains protect it from all but the hardy hill-walker.
To witness the splendour demands a nine mile trek and perhaps that's a part of Sandwood's magnetism. Wild and windswept, beautiful and immaculate, its dynamic isolation draws me back time after time.
