There comes a brief interlude between the day and night when the rising or lowering light reaches a level that allows for a particular combination of camera, filter and flash settings. I call it the 'magic minute' and it creates seascapes such as this. Where textural detail, reflection, colour and the influencing atmospherics are captured to the truest extent.
This image was taken one sultry summer's dawn, down on the rocks in the western corner of Crantock Bay. When I look at it, I am transported back to the gentle stillness and silence that pervaded on that special morning. The clarity of the water adds an interesting 'negative' mid-ground dimension between the 'positive' detail of the foreground and sky.
This image is ideally suited to reproduction, either as a 'traditional' mounted and framed fine art print, or as a 'contemporary' unframed acrylic glass artwork.
