An ethereal summer's dawn down on the rocks of West Pentire. A change in air temperature conjured a sea mist, or 'fret' as my regular workshop companion George Hodlin told me it was named up in Yorkshire. We had arrived down in the bay long before sunrise but had hardly been able to make out a thing in the foggy gloom. Yet, as the light increased and the land warmed, so a gentle breeze picked up and softly dispersed the fret, to reveal a wonderfully evocative view of Crantock.
