As a spring storm retreats, so the sun catches the big breakers that are rising up and thumping down with deep, wild booms. Kneeling down on the tideline, I waited for the fleetingly rare moment when a wave swept the beach as the one following smashed down.
Just over the top of the crest, you can make out the small silhouette of St Michaels Mount.
