I strive to capture the dynamic drama and atmospherics in my seascapes by using the sea as an important structural element in my compositions. For the sea relates the pervading conditions so well. It comes down to reading the wave patterns and waiting for right moment.
So on this wild and stormy evening at the end of Pentire Point West, I was delighted when my perseverance paid off and a big new set provided a first wave, that filled a gully running into my lower left, and as it receded, drew the eye out into the churning belly of the second. This action mirrored precisely what I was seeing in my mind's eye, and along with the colour and detail in the sky created an image that truly reflects the moment.
