This huge rogue wave was the product of a brief period of very low pressure over the Atlantic during an early summer squall. As it rolled in, it met a reef that made it rear up and break way off shore.
In the original image file, the tiny dot over the apex of this monster can be clearly recognised as an Oyster Catcher. This gives an idea of the image quality as well as the vast scale of the wave.
